Annabel Astbury

Thinking about the news. In 2018, the ABC launched a media literacy literacy initiative “Navigating the News” in response to the need of teachers, students (and indeed, the general public) for tools to help sort fact from fake and to understand how technology has an impact on the way news and information is consumed and understood. Annabel will discuss the tools and research around news literacy that the ABC has produced and the impact that these could have upon cultures of thinking in schools around Australia.

Annabel is Head of ABC Education and a leader and a voice for clients and audiences in schools education in Australia. She continues to lead and transform educational professional development, publishing, not for profit and broadcasting industries as they relate to Australian education. Specialties: Leadership and Management, project direction and strategy, digital production, content strategy and management, social media strategy, writing and leading projects that have high social impact.
